Serious flooding in many parts of the Lower Mainland

LOWER MAINLAND (NEWS1130) – The rain is causing some serious flooding in parts of the Lower Mainland today.

Vancouver city crews have been out all night and into this morning, dealing with large puddles and flooding on major roads. For the most part, drivers appear to be slowing down as they drive through large puddles.

Taryn Scollard with the City has some advice for business and home owners.

“Keep catch basins in your area clear, if you see them. Please don’t rake leaves into the street because it does cause problems for slipping… and backing up the catch basins. If you do see problems, please call 3-1-1.”

Photos show flooding in parts of Maple Ridge, Coquitlam, and Richmond. Crews in those cities have also been working to clear drains.

In Vancouver, police were called to places like Clark and 14th and Glen and Broadway to help drivers and cyclists who were getting stuck.
