Vancouver passenger describes ‘incredibly scary’ moments on flight

BELLINGHHAM (NEWS1130) – A veteran flyer says a flight from Las Vegas to Bellingham Thursday was something he’d never experienced before.

Fifteen minutes into Allegiant Air Flight 580, very loud noises erupted.

“And with each noise, the plane shook very violently. It was a noise I’ve never heard before,” says the passenger, who wishes to remain anonymous.

“It was unbelievably scary. It scared the hell out of me, to be honest.”

He says five minutes after that, the captain came on to tell them they were turning around. The panic subsided.

“Everyone got very talkative all of a sudden. They were talking to their neighbours, people they’d never met before.  When the plane landed safely, everyone erupted in violent applause because they were so relieved,” says the passenger.

In a statement, Allegiant Air says twin-engine Boeing 757 was turned around due to engine vibrations, but did not specify the problem.

Passengers were put on a different flight and given $8 vouchers.
