BAMAKO, Mali (NEWS1130) – A nurse says the 2-year-old girl who brought Ebola to Mali has died.

The nurse, who was working at the hospital where the girl was being treated in the western city of Kayes, said Friday that he saw health workers wrapping up the toddler’s body after she died.

The nurse spoke on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to speak to the press.

The girl travelled from Guinea with her grandmother while already bleeding from her nose — a symptom of the disease. The World Health Organization says that many people were exposed during the girl’s journey and are at risk for catching the disease.

Many people in Mali are at high risk of catching Ebola because the toddler who brought the disease to the country was bleeding from her nose as she travelled on a bus from Guinea, the World Health Organization warned Friday.
