VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – Police are looking for witnesses to an early-morning sexual assault in Vancouver this week.

It happened around 1 a.m. on Wednesday. A 36-year-old woman was walking on Kingsway near Sidney Street when she was grabbed by a man who was passing by.

Police say the man started to walk away, but then ran at the woman and sexually assaulted her. The victim managed to fight off her attacker and get away.

She ran into traffic and got into someone’s minivan. Police have not been able to find that van, but want to speak with the female driver.

Investigators have a person of interest, but no arrests have been made.

Anyone with information is asked to call the VPD Sex Crimes Unit at (604) 717-0600.
