Remains of tropical storm Ana could make for a soggy start to the week

By

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – We are expecting some pretty wild weather over the next couple of days.

Environment Canada is warning the remains of tropical storm Ana could cause up to 75 millimetres of rain to fall on parts of Metro Vancouver.

Mora Scott with BC Hydro says crews are preparing for an outage. “We will have all crews in the Lower Mainland and on the island, anywhere where we think the storm may hit ready to respond and we will make sure that our contractor crews are available as well and our call centre agents so if calls are coming in, people can get the information they need right away.”

Scott notes there are things you should be doing to help yourself in the event of an outage. “Customers should have an emergency kit with things like a flashlight, batteries, first aid kit, food and water. [People] should also know how to get ahold of us if the power goes out.”

She adds BC Hydro has an in-house team of meteorologists tracking the storm.

If you suffer a power outage, call 1 888 769-3766.
