VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – Is the fact the NPA’s mayoral candidate lives outside Vancouver city limits a legitimate point of criticism?
Vision Vancouver has launched a radio ad which highlights that fact, and there have been suggestions by some the ad is a bit pedantic.
The ad is a mock conversation between women worrying about the fact the NPA’s mayoral candidate Kirk LaPointe lives at UBC, which is technically outside Vancouver city limits.
“The question is about budget cuts that Mr. LaPointe is proposing that will not affect him as as non-resident of Vancouver, which is an odd circumstance,” Vancouver mayor Gregor Robertson says.
Robertson insists it’s a legitimate point to make in the campaign.
“It’s an odd conflict that’s emerged,” Robertson says. “He can make service cuts that impact Vancouverites but not himself as a non-resident.”
Vision unveiled its full platform this morning, with the second paragraph of its pamphlet stating a vote for the NPA would “drag the city backwards.”
