Lions fall to Stampeders in regular season finale

By

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – Kevin Glenn was intercepted twice near the endzone as the BC Lions failed to clinch third place in the West Division with a 33-16 loss to the Calgary Stampeders in their final game of the regular season.

The Lions had two chances to earn the third seed in the West Division playoffs, but ended the season with losses to Edmonton and Calgary. If Saskatchewan wins its final game then the Roughriders will finish third and the Lions will finish fourth. The fourth place team will crossover to the East Division for the playoffs, while the third place team will visit the Edmonton Eskimos in the western semifinal.

Eric Rogers led the charge offensively for the Stampeders as he caught four passes for 77 yards and two touchdowns, including a 24-yard score with 23 seconds left in the first half, which put Calgary ahead by 11 points.

Glenn completed 26 of his 36 pass attempts for 312 yards and a touchdown, but his two interceptions took scores away from the Lions, as they were in the redzone.

Stefan Logan returned from injury for the Lions and the speedy running back had a big game despite the result. Logan rushed 16 times for 114 yards and added six catches for 70 yards.

Emmanuel Arceneaux caught BC’s lone touchdown of the game, as he scored with 1:01 left in the second quarter. Paul McCallum added three field goals.

The loss means BC finishes the season with a 9-9 record. Calgary finishes at 15-3.
