Canucks end road trip with shootout win over the Ducks

ANAHEIM, CA (NEWS1130) – Nick Bonino had the only goal in the shootout against his former team as the Vancouver Canucks wrapped up a four-game trip with a 2-1 victory over the Anaheim Ducks. Alex Burrows had the Canucks’ goal in regulation.

Vancouver earned three wins on the four game trip. The Canucks beat Colorado and San Jose before losing to Los Angeles and then finishing with a win in Anaheim.

Anaheim opened the scoring on an early powerplay in the second period. Former Canucks centre Ryan Kesler won a faceoff to Sami Vatanen, who snapped a shot past Eddie Lack.

The Canucks responded about nine minutes later, as Burrows tipped a Dan Hamhuis shot in for his third goal of the season. Bonino earned a second assist on the goal.

In the shootout, Bonino scored in the first round to put Vancouver ahead. Kesler was the final Ducks shooter, but was unable to extend the game as he rang his shot off the post.

Lack was terrific in goal for Vancouver, as he stopped 28 shots through regulation and overtime to earn his first win of the season.

Vancouver will now return home to host the Ottawa Senators on Tuesday night.
