Canucks edge Senators in overtime

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – Daniel Sedin scored in the final minute of overtime on a set-up from his brother Henrik, as the Canucks took a 4-3 victory over the Ottawa Senators at Rogers Arena.

Henrik jumped over the boards to replace Jannik Hansen on the ice, and quickly took a pass at the blueline, made a move, and then hit Daniel with a pass at the right side of the net. Daniel quickly fired a shot past Craig Anderson from a tough angle for his 12th career overtime goal.

The Canucks led three times in the game, but Ottawa equalized on all three occasions. Vancouver got goals from Shawn Mathias and Alex Burrows in the second period, while Mike Hoffman and Kyle Turris responded for the Senators.

Kevin Bieksa scored his first goal of the season 5:36 into the third period to put Vancouver back in front, but Mark Stone levelled the score again just over three minutes later.

Ryan Miller turned aside 21 shots to improve his record to 11-2-0.

The Canucks have now won back-to-back games and nine of their past 11. Vancouver leads the NHL with 12 victories, and is tied for first place with Tampa Bay with 24 points.

Vancouver (12-5-0) returns to action on Friday when it hosts the Arizona Coyotes.
