Old Vision candidates list may mislead voters

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – Vancouver voters relying on Google to help them sort through park board candidates may be prompted to vote for someone not actually running.

A link that pops up after a Google search, brings online users to a Vision website that is out of date.

A Vision Vancouver site is the very first link Google presents, after the words “Vision park board candidates” is put in the search engine.

The website features an undated press release which lists Trish Kelly as among the candidates.

But the webpage doesn’t indicate that the information is not current.

Kelly decided to withdraw from the race back in the summer, after controversy arose over an old risqué video she had made.

She says she wasn’t aware her name is still on the site.

“You can’t control what the internet remembers about you. But I’m surprised that information is still live, that they didn’t remove that.”

She still supports the Vision park board candidates and worries voters aren’t getting accurate information.

“They are not going to know about the replacement candidates for Vision. Since I left the race, the party put two other people on the park board slate.”

The party is running six candidates for park board.
