Hanzal paces Coyotes to win over Canucks

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – Martin Hanzal scored a natural hat-trick and Devan Dubnyk stopped 35 shots for the shutout, as the Arizona Coyotes took a 5-0 victory over the Vancouver Canucks at Rogers Arena.

It was the first time the Canucks have been shutout this season. The result also gave Vancouver its second loss in the past six games.

Hanzal opened the scoring on Arizona’s third shot of the game. He was set-up by Keith Yandle off the rush with 5:04 to play in the opening period.

The Coyotes broke the game open in the late stages of the second period. Hanzel tipped home his second goal of the game with what appeared to be a high stick, however, video review upheld the call to make it a 2-0 lead.

Off the ensuing faceoff, Hanzal got the puck and snapped home his third goal of the game. The goals came just nine seconds apart.

Shane Doan added a goal with just three seconds left in the period, and then Yandle tallied on a two-man advantage late in the third to round out the scoring.

Dubnyk was terrific in the Coyotes crease to allow his team the time to pull ahead. Vancouver led 8-2 in shots before Arizona scored.

Ryan Miller had a tough night for Vancouver. He was beaten four times on the first 13 shots he faced.

The Canucks get some time to think about the loss as they don’t play again until Wednesday when they visit the Edmonton Oilers.
