New West police investigating groping and exposure incidents

NEW WESTMINSTER (NEWS1130) – Investigators are asking for the public’s help after two incidents that happened the night of November 9th.

At about 8:45 p.m., a woman was walking along 8th Avenue when she a man in dark clothing walking toward her. As he passed by, he reached out toward her and grabbed her breast. She screamed and the man fled toward Grimston Park.

A short time later, just after 9:00 pm, another woman was also walking along 8th Avenue when she noticed a man ahead of her. As she walked past, she noticed he exposing himself.

The suspect in both of these incidents is described as follows:

•Caucasian male
•Approximately 30 years old
•5’5” – 5’8? height – medium build
•Wearing a black baseball hat, black hoodie (hood up) and black sweatpants/jeans

“We are asking the public to be extra vigilant with respect to their surroundings in this area after dark,” said Sergeant Diana McDaniel. “Please report any similar incidents immediately to the police.”
