SIERRA LEONE (NEWS1130) – The Nebraska hospital that will treat a surgeon who contracted Ebola in Sierra Leone says he is expected to arrive in Omaha mid-afternoon.

The Nebraska Medical Center said in a statement Saturday that information from those treating Dr. Martin Salia in Sierra Leone indicates he’s critically ill and may be in worse condition than previous Ebola patients who returned to the U.S.

The hospital didn’t identify Salia as the patient because of patient confidentiality laws. But Sierra Leone’s chief medical officer, Dr. Brima Kargbo, confirmed to that the patient is Salia.

Salia would be the third Ebola patient treated at the Nebraska hospital and the 10th treated in the US.
