We’re Not Gonna Take It – ‘Rock of Ages’ will close on Broadway in January after 2,300 shows

NEW YORK, N.Y. – It’s the final countdown for Broadway’s only hair metal musical.

Producers of “Rock of Ages” said Tuesday that the show — now the 27th longest running show in Broadway history — will close Jan. 18 after more than 2,300 performances.

“Rock of Ages” tells the story of a small town girl and an aspiring rocker whose glittery romance is set to a rock ‘n’ roll soundtrack that includes “Every Rose Has Its Thorn,” ”Here I Go Again” and “Don’t Stop Believin.'”

The show started in a nightclub in Los Angeles and moved off-Broadway in 2008. It opened at the Brooks Atkinson Theatre on Broadway in 2009 and switched to the Helen Hayes Theatre in 2011. It recouped its capitalization of $7.25 million.

It currently stars Constantine Maroulis.
