Local firefighter cycles for cancer

BURNABY (NEWS1130) – A local firefighter is cycling around the world to raise money for cancer research. Rudy Pospisil is a Captain with the Burnaby Fire Department and he is also a cancer survivor. He posts blogs and thoughts each day that you can follow and he loves getting letters from survivors, patients and researchers.
His current journey will see him cycle 2500 km from Chiang Mai through Thailand and Malaysia to Singapore. Rudy has had quite the adventure in his first week. Because of conflicts along the Thai/Burma border he had to hike through the jungle for almost two days to get to the road that will allow him to ride the 1000 kilometres into Bangkok. Rudy says the people are amazing, they don’t have cell phones in the out of the way villages and most things are done by fire.
But even as simple as their lives are, Rudy explains they are some of the happiest people he has ever met.
