Canadian women are still behind men in the workplace: study

By

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – Despite the perception, women in Canada still aren’t on equal footing compared to men.

The Canadian Human Rights Commission took a bunch of studies done between 2005 and 2011 to compile their report.

It found that in the workplace, Canadian women earn less than men and they are more likely to be unemployed. More women rely on government help to pay their rent or mortgage, and more Canadian women than men also say they’ve been victims of serious crime and discrimination.

But women are seeing more success than men in some areas like education. A larger percentage of women go to university and earn bachelor’s degrees than men.

The commission will use this report as a baseline to document change.
