Canucks fall in overtime to the Ducks

ANAHEIM, CA (NEWS1130) – Cam Fowler scored midway through overtime as the Anaheim Ducks handed the Vancouver Canucks a 2-1 defeat on Sunday night. Yannick Weber had the lone goal for Vancouver.

Fowler banged home a rebound 2:42 into the extra frame to give the Ducks their second win over Vancouver in three meetings so far this season. It was his fifth goal of the season.

The Canucks opened the scoring early in the second period. Weber took a wristshot from the point and it found a way through the traffic before beating Frederik Andersen. Jannik Hansen and Alex Burrows drew assists on the tally.

Vancouver remained on top until just shy of the seven-minute mark of the third period. Francois Beauchemin scored in similar style to Weber as he beat Ryan Miller with a screened shot to tie the game.

Miller had to be very good to keep the Canucks in the game. He made 27 saves in regulation, which helped Vancouver secure a single point.

Daniel Sedin had the best chance for the Canucks in overtime, as he had a chance to go in all alone on Andersen, but he overskated the puck.

The Canucks had their two-game winning streak snapped with the result. Vancouver returns to action on Tuesday as it will visit the San Jose Sharks.
