The Canucks road trip continues against the Philadelphia Flyers

PHILADELPHIA (NEWS1130) – The Canucks five game road trip takes them to the City of Brotherly Love today when they take on the Philadelphia Flyers. Vancouver is playing game two of its five game road trip, and it is off to a rough start with a 5-1 loss to Nashville in Tuesday.

The Canucks are hoping to rebound with a victory today, but they will have to keep tabs on Jakub Voracek and Claude Giroux. The offensive weapons of the Flyers are two of the top four point getters in the NHL. Voracek leads the entire league with 52 points. Nick Bonino says it is crucial the Canucks shut down the dynamic duo.

“They have a lot of skilled guys over there and we have to win our matchup’s. We don’t want to let two guys beat you. It is definitely going to be a challenge to stop them, but it is something I hope we do well at.”

Vancouver has lost three games in a row, and Coach Willie Desjardins says the Canucks need to get back to the fundamentals.

“When you are on top of your game you’re kind of running off of a plan and you know what you want to do. I think when you are tired, you are reacting to everything instead of being a step ahead and dictating what is going to happen. We want to get back to where we have a plan, we are executing the plan and we are not reacting to what is happening.”

Ryan Miller is expected to get the start in net. Dan Hamhuis and Chris Tanev will take the pre-game skate. Hamhuis is not expected to play, while Tanev is a game-time decision.

The puck drops at 4 p.m.. You can watch it on Sportsnet Pacific. Listen for game updates every 10 minutes on the fives.
