“What hockey stereotype??!” Miss Canada gets 2 minutes for looking so good

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – Maybe it was the 10 life size hockey sticks and giant scoreboard over her head…

If there were ever any doubts that hockey is Canada’s game, our entrant at the Miss Universe pageant has body-checked them into submission.

Chanel Beckenlehner, 26, from Caledon, Ontario certainly caught the attention of the pageant and, judging by the reaction on social media, much of the world with what the New York Daily News suggests could have been the spawn of an unholy night between Don Cherry and Lady Gaga.

Her “national costume” dress featured a Team Canada corset with shoulder pads, a hockey net bustle, 10 hockey sticks fanning up off her back in a “Mad Max on Ice” fashion and thigh-high, laced up skates.

The piece de resistance? The giant scoreboard over her head (With the the game apparently 20-14 late in the third period!).

In a Piece called Miss Canada — What Hockey Stereotype??!, TMZ writes “Apparently, the costume shop was all out of the other classic Canadian outfit — jeans with jean shirt with jean jacket.”
