The Canucks six-game homestand begins tonight against Anaheim

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – The Canucks are back in action tonight against the Anaheim Ducks. It should be a tough test for Vancouver after a five-day layoff because of the All-Star break. The Ducks have built a big lead in the Pacific Division and are in first place in the NHL.

The two teams have played each other very closely this season and Radim Vrbata expects no different tonight.

“All the games we have played against them have been tight and could have gone either way. I expect the same tonight and maybe it is good to play them right after the break when everyone is hopefully a little rusty and sluggish, but it will be a tight game.”

Kevin Bieksa successfully underwent hand surgery this week and will be sidelined for six-to-eight weeks. Youngster Frank Corrado will draw in to the lineup to replace Bieksa and he will be paired with Dan Hamhuis on the blueline.

“He is a world class defenceman. It is nice to play with a guy like that, because you learn so much being by his side. Hopefully we can gel together and help the team get some points in the second half.”

Brad Richardson left the morning skate early and he is questionable tonight with a lower body injury. Zack Kassian could be playing alongside Nick Bonino and Shawn Matthias.

Ryan Miller is expected to get the start in net.

The puck drops at 7 p.m. You can watch it on Sportsnet Pacific. Listen for game updates every 10 minutes on the fives.
