The Canucks set to battle with the Wild

By

ST. PAUL, MN (NEWS1130) – The Canucks look to seek a measure of revenge against the Minnesota Wild tonight when they begin a short two-game road trip.

Vancouver is coming off an impressive 5-0 shutout over the Pittsburgh Penguins on Saturday. The timing couldn’t have been better as the Canucks need to feel good about their play heading into tonight’s game against the Wild, arguably the hottest team in the league having won five in a row and with points in eight of the last nine outings. One of those wins was against the Canucks just eight days ago. But, Minnesota is five points behind Vancouver in the standings and could be a factor if the Canucks drop back down into the race for a wildcard spot.

While the Canucks are looking to move up in the standings, this game is also about trying to halt the hard-charging Wild. Goaltender Devan Dubnyk has been named the NHL’s first star of the week after posting consecutive shutouts. He has a 7-1-and-0 record with a 1-point-31 goals-against average wince joining the Wild.

For the second straight game, Vancouver’s Chris Tanev will be a game-time decision. He said he was hopeful to play on Saturday, but didn’t even take the warm-up skate. He is dealing with an undisclosed injury.

Ryan Miller is expected to start in net.

Puck drop at 5 pm live on Sportsnet Pacific.
