ORLANDO,FLA (NEWS1130) – The Vancouver Whitecaps try to make it consecutive wins this afternoon in Florida, as they face Orlando City SC for the first time.
Both teams enter today’s match at the Citrus Bowl 1-1. The Whitecaps got in the win column last weekend with a victory over the Chicago Fire.
“It’s not going to be an easy game. We know that.” Whitecaps head coach Carl Robinson said earlier this week.
“We’ve got a good result in Chicago, and we want to try and build on that. We’ll be organized, disciplined, and try to catch them when we can.”
As far as an individual focus goes, midfielder Kaka is at the forefront for Orlando City. Robinson talked about trying to shut down the Brazillian star.
“We’re going to play against very good players this year. Kaka is a big test for us. We’ve got our own players that can cause problems for them. We’ve got to do our defensive jobs very well. On Saturday (in Chicago) we were very good at times, and other times we were a little bit sloppy.”
Vancouver will be without the services of Mauro Rosales for this match. He left last week in Chicago with a sprained ankle.
Octavio Rivero has scored in his first two matches as a member of the Whitecaps. First kick in the Florida sun – it’s expected to be 28 degrees – is set for 4:30 pm.
