Former NHL player charged with arson in Langley

LANGLEY (NEWS1130) – A former NHL player has been charged with arson over a house fire in Langley last week.
RCMP Corporal Holly Marks says the fire was set during an argument between a father and son.
“After the father had gone to bed, and fortunately the basement tenant was not home, somebody going by witnessed someone trying to set fire to the house, did make attempts to stop him but unfortunately wasn’t successful.”
“He is a 35 year old Langley man and we have charged him with arson with disregard for human life and a second charge of arson causing damage to property,” she adds.
Stephen Peat turned himself in to police on Thursday.
He played 130 games for the Washington Capitals
