TORONTO – Ontario-raised theatre star Ramin Karimloo is leaving his starring role in “Les Miserables” in New York.

On Wednesday he took to his Twitter and Facebook pages to announce his final show will be Aug. 30.

He ended the message with the hashtag #2460done, a nod to his character’s former prisoner number.

Last April, Karimloo got a Tony Award nomination for best actor in a leading role in a musical for playing a brawny Valjean.

He also played the character to rapturous reviews in a Toronto production.

Karimloo was born in Tehran but grew up in Peterborough, Ont., and Richmond Hill, Ont.

“Les Mis” marked his Broadway debut after a triumphant career in London’s West End, where he starred in “The Phantom of the Opera” and its sequel, “Love Never Dies.”
