Canucks try to rebound against Dallas

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – The Vancouver Canucks run to the postseason continues Saturday night against the Dallas Stars at Rogers Arena. (7pm, CBC)

Vancouver has a chance to bounce back after a lethargic loss to the Colorado Avalanche on Thursday night.

That game did come up after the morning skate, but the focus is on Dallas.

“This time a year, as soon as the game is over, it’s gone.” Canucks head coach Willie Dejardins said Saturday morning.

“This is a team (Dallas) that’s played some good hockey as of late.” Kevin Bieksa said after the morning skate.

“They’re on the outside of the playoffs looking in, and like Colorado, they’ll have to run the table to give themselves a chance to get into the playoffs. It’s a team that we have to be very cautious of, and and a team that we have to get the lead against.”

Vancouver has given up the first goal in on a regular basis lately. It’s happened 40 times this season, and the Canucks are 17-21-2 in those games.

Both teams have won seven of the last ten, but Dallas comes in to Rogers Arena following a 4-0 loss to the Oilers in Edmonton on Friday night. The Stars have also taken both matchups in the season series.

Vancouver’s lineup remains the same from Thursday night. Brad Richardson and Zack Kassian will not play. Eddie Lack gets the start in goal.

The Canucks still sit second in the Pacific division. The LA Kings are two points behind, while Calgary trails by three. The Kings take on the Minnesota Wild at 5pm on Sportsnet.

Dallas is eight points out of a wildcard spot in the Western conference.
