The Canucks road trip continues in Nashville

NASHVILLE (NEWS1130) – The Canucks go from the Blues to the country tunes tonight in game two of their four game road trip. Vancouver impressed in a 4-1 victory over St. Louis last night and the team hopes to continue its success this evening against the Nashville Predators.

Captain Henrik Sedin says playing on back-to-back night’s against teams bound for the playoffs shouldn’t be a problem.

“I don’t think back-to-back’s are a big deal in this league. It is tougher when it gets in to four games in six nights. We have seen it in our own building, where team’s come in on a back-to-back and they feel good, so I don’t see it as a big problem.”

What could pose a problem for the Canucks is Nashville goalie Pekka Rinne. He is having an all-star season between the pipes and is tied for the NHL lead in wins with 41. Alex Edler says it will be tough to get pucks past the Finnish netminder.

“He is a great goalie. I think every team has a hard time scoring on him. I think what we can do, is get pucks to the net, get traffic, be there on rebounds.”

Fellow defenseman Dan Hamhuis played with Rinne in Nashville and admits he is a great goalie.

“He is a great goalie. Positionally he is sound, he is very athletic, he plays the puck well and is pretty much the whole package for a goaltender. We have to make it as hard as we can on him, put a lot of pucks on him and increase our chances.”

The Canucks have struggled against Nashville this season, dropping both meetings in regulation. They have never lost three in a row in regulation to the Predators in franchise history.

Vancouver will start Eddie Lack in net instead of going with the rested Jacob Markstrom. Lack made 23 saves last night.

The puck drops at 5 p.m.. You can watch it on Sportsnet Pacific. Listen for game updates every 10 minutes on the fives.
