Montreal Canadiens the most popular team in the country: poll

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – While Canuck Nation cheers on Henrik, Daniel and the boys, it’s a different story across the country.

A new poll looking into which team Canadians most want to see hoist the Stanley Cup finds the Montreal Canadiens are the most popular team, with three in 10 of us wanting the club led by BC-born goalie Carey Price to win it all.

The Canucks and Ottawa Senators are next, with about half that support.

The Winnipeg Jets and Calgary Flames are a few points back.

When it comes to teams we hate — even the non-playoff ones — guess who wins according to Insights West poll? Sorry, Leafs Nation — Toronto is the most despised team.

Then again, the Edmonton Oilers are found to have the least support, nationwide.

Now, the question is: Would you rather be hated or ignored?
