Saskatchewan finance minister: more needed on infrastructure in federal budget

REGINA – Saskatchewan’s finance minister says he would have appreciated more funding for infrastructure in the federal budget.

Ken Krawetz says the distribution of funds through the New Building Canada Fund over 10 years has limited the amount of dollars the province will receive.

He says it will leave the province with about $43 million annually.

Krawetz says there were no surprises in the federal budget and it mirrors the Saskatchewan government’s goals to control spending.

He says the government will be analyzing the budget in more detail.

Federal Finance Minister Joe Oliver said Tuesday the government will raise $1.4 billion more than it will spend in the current fiscal year.
