Possible homicide in Abbotsford

ABBOTSFORD (NEWS1130) – A man found severely injured just off Sumas Way near Highway 1 has died, and police aren’t sure what happened or who he is.

Abbotsford Police Constable Ian MacDonald says the man was found just after 11 p.m. on Sunday; he died just a few minutes later.

“Certainly, we believe this to be a suspicious death. That’s what APD and IHIT will investigate. We can’t conclude that this was a homicide, but we’re investigating and gathering evidence as if it were.”

The man is believed to have been in his thirties.

“It’s a busy stretch of road and we would anticipate even on a Sunday evening that there would be a fair amount of vehicular traffic and even possibly some pedestrian traffic. We’re asking anyone who was in and around that area who may have seen something to call Abbotsford Police,” adds MacDonald.

Investigators are also going to nearby businesses to see if they have surveillance video.

Anyone with information is asked to call the IHIT Tip Line at 1-877-551- 4448 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
