Whitecaps welcome Seattle Sounders FC in Cascadia clash

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – It’s Darby Day at BC Place as the Whitecaps welcome Seattle Sounders FC to Vancouver. It’s a matchup featuring two firece rivals, and a pair of elite goal scorers in Vancouver’s Octavio Rivero (6 goals) and Seattle’s Clint Dempsey. (7 goals)

“You kind of feel the buzz going around.” Vancouver’s Jordan Harvey said earlier in the week, talking about the attention that comes to the City with the Sounders in town.

“You do for a lot of games throughout the season, but this is one in particular. You look around the stadium, and they have some seats covered, but not for this one. It’s going to be sold out, and a great environment. I’m really looking forward to it.”

It also helps that the Whitecaps have gotten off to such a strong start to the season. Vancouver’s 6-3-2 record is good enough for second in the Western Conference, just one point behind FC Dallas.

As for the Sounders, they saw a three match win streak come to an end last weekend against Columbus.

The Whitecaps also boast the upper hand when it comes to the head to head matchup. Vancouver has taken four of the last five from Seattle.

As far as the Cascadia Cup standings are concerned, Vancouver sits one point in front of the Sounders at the top of the table.

“Some of the best games of the whole year (come against Seattle).” Whitecaps goalkeeper David Ousted said earlier in the week.

“The way BC Place always gets packed, and the fans are behind us. I think everybody is looking forward to it.”
