Mailing your transportation plebiscite ballot? Make sure it’s sent out by Tuesday night!

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – For anyone planning to mail in their transportation plebiscite ballot, Canada Post says it needs to be in the mail by Tuesday night in order to get it in by the deadline.

“Local to local delivery standards for Canada Post is two business days so what we do is we always encourage people to send it whenever they can as quickly as possible,” explains Anick Losier with Canada Post.

But if someone still misses that deadline, there is a backup route.

“They can certainly use what we call premium products and they will pay more for it…next day delivery express,” says Losier.

Don Main with Elections BC says in-person drop-off is also available. There are nine offices set up in malls across Metro Vancouver.

They operate under regular mall hours, except Friday, when they will close at 8 p.m. — that is the ballot deadline.

Lower Mainland offices:
North Vancouver – Capilano Mall
Surrey – Central City Mall
Vancouver – Chinatown Plaza, City Square Shopping Centre
Coquitlam – Coquitlam Centre
Maple Ridge – Haney Place Mall
Burnaby – Lougheed Town Centre
Richmond – Richmond Centre Mall
Langley – Willowbrook Shopping Centre

Main says they are advertising this week in order to make one last big push of awareness. “We do have newspaper advertising and radio advertising going on. Of course, we have our transit advertising, as well.”

Any ballots received after May 29th at 8 p.m. will not be counted.
