Street racing may have led to a late-night crash in Surrey

By

SURREY (NEWS1130) – A portion of 176th Street in South Surrey has been shut down since late last night after a bad crash involving a semi.

176th Street between 8th Avenue and 20th Avenue was closed overnight; it complately re-opened to traffic around 8:30 a.m.

“We have reports that the vehicles were travelling at a high rate of speed together, which may result in a conclusion that they were racing,” says RCMP Staff Sergeant Blair McColl.

“The second vehicle actually went underneath the trailer portion of the tractor and trailer unit. There were four occupants in that vehicle. All of them have been taken to hospital,” he explains.

Police are still trying to track down the other car, which took off after the crash.
