Whitecaps get back on track with win over the Galaxy

CARSON, CA (NEWS 1130) – Kekuta Manneh tallied in the first half as the Vancouver Whitecaps swept their season-series with the LA Galaxy by defeating the defending champions 1-0.

Manneh opened the scoring in the 32nd minute, as he took a pass from Octavio Rivero and then used his speed to create some space before firing the ball into the left side of the net for his second goal of the season.

David Ousted didn’t have to record any saves to earn his seventh clean sheet of the season.

Los Angeles had not lost at home in 23 consecutive matches before falling to Vancouver. The Whitecaps also beat the Galaxy 2-0 at home on Apr. 4 to sweep the two-game season series.

With the win, the Whitecaps (8W-6L-2D) move into a tie with the Seattle Sounders for first place in the Western Conference. The ‘Caps have played 16 matches, while Seattle has only played 14.

The Whitecaps get a couple of weeks off before they return to MLS action as they will continue their road trip against the New York Red Bulls on Jun. 20.
