Techera and Rivero score goals as Whitecaps beat Revolution

FOXBOROUGH, MA (NEWS 1130) – The Vancouver Whitecaps made it three wins in a row as they took a 2-1 victory over the 10-man New England Revolution. Cristian Techera and Octavio Rivero scored the ‘Caps’ goals.

Vancouver has now won three straight games, all on the road, and the past two wins have come over teams playing with 10-men. Last weekend the Whitecaps topped the New York Red Bulls 2-1, and before that they knocked off the Los Angeles Galaxy 1-0 on Jun. 6.

Techera got the visitors on the board first as he charged onto a rebound and knocked home his second goal of the season in the 18th minute. Techera’s hard work led to the Whitecaps’ second goal of the game as well, as he drew a foul in the box just past the half hour mark.

Rivero made no mistake from the spot as he fired low to the left side to make it 2-0. Andrew Farrell of the Revs received a red card for the foul.

New England got one goal back as Teal Bunberry beat David Ousted in the 84th minute, but the Whitecaps held on to improve their record to 10W-6L-2D.

Vancouver will wrap-up it’s season-high five-game road trip next Saturday against the Colorado Rapids.
