RCMP looking for victims in Surrey shooting

By

SURREY (NEWS 1130) RCMP are still looking for the people who fired shots outside a Surrey restaurant, but they’ll need to find the intended victims first. No one is admitting they may have been the target.

The shooting outside Earls restaurant near 72nd Avenue and 120th Street on June 8th didn’t kill anyone, but it was still shocking for people having dinner. RCMP say this is connected to the dozens of shootings linked to a drug turf war over the last few months.

Surrey RCMP Corporal Scotty Schumann says they initially thought they had found one of the intended victims. “One of the males we thought we had identified. When we confronted him, he was adamant that he’s not the person. So right now, investigators aren’t even sure who the victims are.”

He says Mounties have some stills of the possible victims from surveillance footage. “Once we identify the victims, we’re hoping that we’ll be able to convince them to identify the shooters to us and once that’s done, that will assist us in our investigation and hopefully get those people off the road.”
