IHIT identifies body in possible Whistler murder, turns to public for help

WHISTLER (NEWS 1130) – Homicide investigators are now turning to the public for information as they try to figure out whether a man’s death in Whistler earlier this year was the result of murder.

The body of 19-year-old Jake Kermond — a visitor from Australia — was found on June 17th, but he hadn’t been seen since late April.

Police say his death is suspicious but they’ve been unable to confirm something criminal happened to him.

He was last seen at about 7:30 p.m. on April 26th when he left the Adara Hotel. At the time, he was wearing a baggy green jacket, dark pants, and a black and white baseball cap.

“Although Jake’s death remains suspicious, foul play has yet to be confirmed,” says Sergeant Stephanie Ashton with IHIT.

Anyone with information is asked to give them a call at 1-877-551-IHIT (4448). You can also call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
