Air quality advisory called off for both Metro Vancouver and Fraser Valley

VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) – Good news for people living in the Lower Mainland and the valley.

The air quality advisory has been lifted in Metro Vancouver and the Fraser Valley thanks to favourable winds.

Provincial Health Officer Dr. Perry Kendall says despite the good news, people with respiratory issues should still be mindful.

“People who have sensitive respiratory systems and may be experiencing or have had problems over the last couple of days are still advised to take it easy and monitor their symptomatology,” says Kendall.

The Comox Valley, on Vancouver Island, has the worst air provincially right now — on the index, it’s rated an eight on the scale.

That compares with Metro Vancouver, where our air is measured at just two or three depending on your specific location.

Metro Vancouver says reducing air emissions throughout the airshed continues to be important for good air quality.
