Anonymous vows revenge on RCMP following Dawson Creek shooting

DAWSON CREEK (NEWS 1130) – An officer-involved shooting in Dawson Creek this week has sparked a revenge campaign by activist group Anonymous.

In a video posted online, the group says an RCMP officer “mercilessly” shot and killed one of its members “without provocation or cause,” and it is calling on its members to press the RCMP and the Canadian government for justice.

“To this end Anonymous announces the launch of operation ‘Anon Down.’ The focus of this [operation] going forward will be gaining justice and vengeance necessary for our fallen comrade in Dawson Creek,” the video warns. “We may not be able to prevent other Anons from being slain by murderous police, but we sure as hell can show them there will be a steep price to pay if they kill us.”

In the video, the group says this is the fourth member of Anonymous to be killed by security forces around the world. “We will most certainly avenge one of our own when they are cut down in the streets while protesting the earth wrecking environmental policies of the Canadian Government.”

Anonymous is vowing to take down the RCMP’s website and it also wants the RCMP officer involved to be named, fired, and charged.

On Thursday, a man was shot outside the hotel where the major BC Hydro Site C dam was being discussed.
