DELTA (NEWS 1130) – In the midst of a gang turf war, where does the federal government’s promise stand from earlier this year to staff 100 more RCMP officers in Surrey?
According to the federal minister of public safety, the Conservatives are very committed to helping Delta and Surrey fight crime. But the number of officers on the ground falls short of earlier promises.
“Six… are being added. More than a dozen is on the way. This is part of the commitment of 100 additional officers that will be committed,” says Steven Blaney.
Blaney wouldn’t say exactly when we can expect to see the rest of the promised officers on the ground, fighting crime. He says they are still being trained.
He points out 33 an additional officers have already been deployed in Surrey, but those Mounties were promised in a separate federal commitment.
