Man swarmed by group at Metrotown

BURNABY (NEWS 1130) – Investigators are trying to figure out the motive after a man in his 30s was jumped by a group of men at Metrotown early this morning. It happened just outside The Bay before 2am.

The victim has serious head injuries and it’s unclear if a weapon was used in the beating.

RCMP Staff Sergeant Curtis Burks says they got a lot of calls about the attack but by the time they got there all the suspects except for one had taken off. “Obviously, the witnesses were spoken to at the scene. Our Forensic Identification people — they’ll be processing the outdoor crime scene and the video canvass will be done.”

Police don’t know what the man was doing there so early in the morning. “He was transported to the hospital for treatment one male was taken into custody near the scene,” adds Burks.

Charges of assault causing bodily harm will likely be recommended.
