Courts gives BC Hydro two favourable decisions related to Site C Dam

VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) – Two first nations have failed in their attempt to block early construction work at the location of the Site C Dam.

This comes as those two first nations are in a court battle over provincial permits for that construction work to take place.

The West Moberly and Prophet River First Nations had attempted to get the BC Supreme Court to grant an injunction to stop work on the location of the Site C Dam while the lawsuit was ongoing.

But the court had a different view, meaning the work that’s going on there can continue.

David Conway speaks for the project and says BC Hydro is pleased with the court’s decision.

“We are pleased with this decision,” says Conway. “We believe Site C is the right project at the right time for BC, and we look forward to continuing with construction work.”

BC Hydro has also seen success in a separate court battle over this project.

The federal court has dismissed an application from the Peace Valley Landowner Association for a judicial review.
