Whitecaps travel to Texas to battle Houston

HOUSTON (NEWS 1130) – The Vancouver Whitecaps can…cap…a long month of August with a win Saturday in Houston. Fresh off the club’s first Voyageurs Cup in over a decade, Vancouver resumes MLS play against the Dynamo in Texas.

The Whitecaps have plenty to play for, as the LA Galaxy hold top spot in the Western Conference and the Supporters Shield over the ‘Caps by a single point. Saturday’s match is meaningful for Houston as well, a club just three points out of a playoff spot heading into the evening’s play.

Part of the story from Wednesday night was what a Canadian championship can do for the Whitecaps confidence moving forward.

“I think it’s going to give us confidence. Going forward, it’s going to give us hunger to try this a couple more times.” Whitecaps goalkeeper David Ousted said earlier this week.

“Let’s see where we get to, but I think we’re on the right path.”

This is the first of two head to head matchups between Vancouver and Houston this season. The Whitecaps hold the edge in head to head play all time at 3-2-0.
