VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) – This wet weather is helping those battling wildfires along the South Coast.
“The precipitation we saw on the coast certainly had a big impact on the fire situation in the Coastal Fire Centre. If you were to look at the fire danger rating in that region, we’re looking at very low ratings in that area,” says Fire Information Officer Ryan Turcot.
But he points out conditions are still bad in the BC Interior.
“We didn’t see quite as much precipitation along the southern border and in the southern interior region. We did see some scattered precipitation, but not as much,” he tells us.
The Stickpin wildfire in Washington State continues to burn at a size of 21,000 hectares, but the evacuation alert for the Grand Forks and Christina Lake is no longer in effect.
