It may take weeks to clean up the storm damage

LOWER MAINLAND (NEWS 1130) – The worst of the wind may be over, but evidence of the storm still litters streets across the region today.

You can see it almost everywhere this morning: homes with yellow caution tape up around the trees or front yards, as people patiently wait for crews to begin the clean-up.

Branches and debris cover much of Lower Mainland after the weekend windstorm. Some trees were even uprooted, tearing the sidewalks up with them.

Parking signs have been knocked over and damaged. Over the weekend, trees came down on power lines, cars and onto a woman in Surrey, who was badly hurt while walking with her daughter.

Crews are prioritizing, attending to the most dangerous areas first.

The clean-up period could take several weeks.
