Continued power outages lead to lack of potable water for float homes

By

LANGLEY (NEWS 1130) – Hundreds of thousands of customers lost power during this weekend’s windstorm, but the situation is much worse for some people in North Langley.

A float home community on the Fraser River is still waiting for power to be restored in the area and their water source needs electricity to work.

Gary lives there and hasn’t been able to even use his toilet for days. “Everybody who is on potable water, that means they get their water from a well, is without water since the time this started. Until their power comes back on there is no water in any tap. I turn on every tap in my house and there is nothing.”

He says he’s been calling BC Hydro for days and keeps getting the run-around. “So since 11:45 on Saturday we’ve had no water. That means no washing your hands, no brushing your teeth and more importantly no toilet and this is day four.”

For him and his neighbours, it’s been a very frustrating. “There is no toilet, at the end of all of these days what do you! Where do you go to the toilet? What do you do seriously?”

Gary adds anybody else who needs power to access their water source is in the same position.
