Whitecaps playoff push continues against the Colorado Rapids

VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) – The Whitecaps enter tonight’s game against Colorado with first place in the MLS in sight. Vancouver trails the LA Galaxy by one point. The Caps will be in tough against a Colorado team that has won three straight matches. The Rapids will also be a desperate team, needing a string of victories to get back in to the Western Conference playoff race.

The Whitecaps have struggled against Colorado this season, dropping both games to the Rapids on the road. Defender Pa Modou Kah says they can’t let Colorado sweep the season series.

“What sticks in my mind is the two losses in Colorado. We have something to prove because we want to be in a good position for the playoffs. We have to improve against them because those were two crucial losses. This is soccer, you always get a new chance, so we get a new chance to redeem ourselves and we are looking forward to taking it.”

Defender Jordan Harvey expects Colorado to come out firing this evening.

“They are going to do whatever it takes to get three points. We are at home, we are confident at home and we are confident if we do what we can and go to our strengths we will be good.”

Vancouver will be playing shorthanded this evening. Centre back Kendall Waston and midfielder Matias Laba won’t play after receiving red cards last game. Russell Teibert and Darren Mattocks are also absent because of international duty. Kah says the Caps have handled a lack of bodies before and they will do it again tonight.

“Whenever our guys are out another one steps in. It is a credit to the coaching staff. The players who come in know what is expected of them and we just have to go about our business.”

The Caps enter the game winners of three straight at home. Kick off at BC Place is at 7 p.m.
