LANGLEY (NEWS 1130) – Two people are in hospital including a patient who was in an ambulance that crashed into a train in Langley.

RCMP say the patient has life-threatening injuries and an attendant who was at the rear of the vehicle is in stable condition.

Sgt. Holly Largy says the driver of the ambulance is suffering from back pain but is otherwise unhurt.

She says two air ambulances were dispatched to the area after the crash and that a major road has been closed.

The cause of the collision is under investigation.

Police are asking for any witnesses to contact them.

Drea lives along Glover Road and heard the moments just before the train hit the ambulance.

“I just heard the train wailing, almost sounded like a human was on the bypass and I said to my son, sounds like a rookie out today, because usually they don’t lay on the horn that long. His engine stopped right in front of our house”

Drea also says she has no safety concerns about that crossing and there haven’t been any problems in the past.
