Don’t park there! City confident in parking policies

By

VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) – You’ve probably experienced it — that rogue car parked in a spot designated “no stopping” during rush hour.

Despite complaints, the City of Vancouver insists it’s doing a good job to nab those parking offenders. And while Toronto actually cracked down on this issue last year, Acting Director of Transportation Lon LeClair says the City of Vancouver has no plans to do that.

“I feel pretty good about the enforcement that we have out there right now. If people see chronic violation of the no stopping zones it would be good for them to report those locations to us because it’s possible those locations have changed,” says LeClair. “Depends on the section of the city, some areas of our city are very easy to enforce and some areas are not.”

If you’re caught in a no stopping zone during rush hour in Vancouver it will cost you about $35 if you pay the fine quickly, in Toronto it’s $150.
