Hockey season a great source of revenue for local businesses

VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) – Hockey season is almost upon us, and while fans celebrate the Canucks hitting the ice, local businesses can celebrate the added cash.

Ian Tostenson with the BC Restaurant Association says most bars will try and capitalize on the Canucks popularity.

“It has massive effects on the supply chain if you consider all the suppliers of beer, wine and spirits, hot dogs, food, all the kiosks, all those different things. It really provides an economic boost.”

He says life without hockey is tough for everyone.

“Our sales of our industry would probably be down eight to ten per cent. That’s how much it means to our industry.”

He says hockey has a massive effect on the supply chain, and he’s thankful for the assist.
