RICHMOND (NEWS 1130) – A new play is about to start at the Gateway Theatre in Richmond called For the Pleasure of Seeing Her Again.
This play is a mixture of laughter and tears according to narrator Kevin Loring.
He says the story is about the writer, Michel Tremblay and his relationship with his mother.
“It’s a love letter to his mother. She’s passed away from cancer and he brings her back to life for the pleasure of seeing her again. She’s a real influential character obviously in his life and she’s a real firecracker of a character.”
He believes this is a story everyone can relate too. Loring saw it years ago while he was in college.
“It was very influential to me as a theatre student because it was a play that made you both laugh and cry simultaneously and I, as a playwright, it influenced me to want to write plays that had that kind of power.”
For the Pleasure of Seeing Her Again opens Thursday.
